OCHA-oPT (the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territory) is the humanitarian arm of the UN Secretariat, coordinating the work of approximately 80 UN organizations and local and international nonprofits operating in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. In contrast to the other 28 regions in which OCHA operates, where their focus is on supplying humanitarian aid, the branch operating in these areas defines the organization’s goals to include political efforts on behalf of the Palestinians, and ensuring that “duty-bearers are held to account”. In other words, conducting lawfare against the State of Israel over its alleged international law violations.
