This policy paper was written against the background of rising public criticism of alleged illegal behavior and incompetence of Israel’s State Prosecution. The paper documents the immense power and lack of accountability of Israel’s State Prosecution and analyses the function of inspectorates established to probe the conduct of prosecutors in Britain and the United States. It recommends the establishment of an independent inspectorate for with broad powers to initiate systemic investigations of the State Prosecution’s conduct as well as to investigate specific complaints by people who believe they have been wronged.
